So, about those missing deviations...

Sat Dec 13, 2008, 4:22 PM
I have to create an online portfolio for my university applications. Since I don't want the images I post there to also be somewhere else (in case that causes people to doubt that I created them myself) I have taken all of the ones that I put into my portfolio out of this gallery.

If you feel like checking out the portfolio I put together (because it includes a few things I never put in here and is pretty super awesome) it is: [link]

I hope everything is going well with all of you as you gear up for the holidays.

Enjoy the season =)

oh travel...

Sun Nov 4, 2007, 7:18 PM
I've come to the strange realization that I've been home for about four weeks in the past five months... that's a lot of travel. And though I love the planes, the cars, the buses... going to, coming from, the bags, the places, the photographs.. I'm getting ready to settle down. It's taxing being alone and being abroad. I want something to come home to and someone to keep me there.

Rah rah CDS

Sat Jun 9, 2007, 9:59 PM
*Title taken from a friend's graduation comment- "Rah rah CDS, thanks Mom and Dad, I owe you $80,000"

So pretty much, I have my last exam on tuesday and then Katie Beth gets here on wednesday. She'll stay until the 18th and life will be good. Then I'll stay over a bunch of places and buy the last few things I need for camp on the first.

Ooh...and somewhere in between I'll have my last day at work. God, I hate my manager.

Example 1:
Mike: Gen, why didn't you sell them a bigger memory card?
Me: Because they didn't want to spend that much money
Mike: So? Tell them that's what they need. Always sell more

Example 2:
Mike: Gen, why did you spend so much time with the customer?
Me: Well they get a one hour free lesson, but she didn't want it, so I just quickly showed her how to use her camera.
Mike: Don't do that. Tell her to go home, try things and then come back. You want to spend as little time as possible with each customer. In that amount of time, you could have sold two cameras. Next time, tell her to go away.

Example 3:
Mike: Gen, I'm not going to have enough hours for you after the summer
Me: Alright, well I thought I was going to come back here, but if not then the store at Hillcrest wants to hire me, so will you give me a reference?
Mike: Well I don't know if they will still want to hire you then, but if the manager there really wants you then I guess I can say something... but I don't think they will want to hire you.

AND ALL OF THIS HAPENNED TODAY!!!!
Grrrrrrr

*There are more examples, but I think you all get the point...

Anyways, enough about Mike. Since the year is pretty much over I decided to start submitting some of my favourite pictures that I took over the course of the year for the school paper and whatnot. Some of them are pretty nice so check those out. I'll be putting new ones up over the course of the week.

Yay, new pics!

Ok, so one last thing. If any of you want to check out my stuff on Helium that would be really great because I would love feedback on it (send it here because I check this more often). Chances are if you like the poetry garbage I write here, you will like the journalism garbage I write there.

In life I really want to be a journalist, and although the articles I've written for Helium haven't been of the same quality as one would publish elsewhere, I think they should still give you an idea of whether I could do it professionally or not, which is what I really want to know.

Thanks.
